Today, I want to take you behind the scenes - not just of a product, but of the philosophy behind it.
Magou Bars were never about chasing trends. They were about intention.
The non-traditional way
I won’t pretend I spent years locked in a kitchen perfecting a secret recipe.
What I did spend time on was learning. Learning about ingredients. Understanding how different foods made me feel. Studying what I personally wanted more of, and less of, in my everyday nutrition.
Having lived in multiple countries, I’ve been shaped by different food cultures. My time in China especially introduced me to ingredients traditionally appreciated in East Asian wellness - jujube, sea buckthorn, and nutrient-rich berries. I was fascinated by how food could be both beautiful and functional.
Because I’m not a food scientist, I chose a collaborative path.
I worked alongside a professional food scientist, sharing my ingredient philosophy and formulation goals. Together, we developed the first version of what a Magou Bar could become.
Not perfect. But intentional.
The ingredients
Every ingredient in a Magou Bar is selected with purpose:
Almond butter, pea protein, date paste, almond flour, marine collagen peptides, crushed almonds, inulin, walnuts, jujube powder, sea buckthorn powder, blueberry powder, flaxseed, chia seeds, natural vanilla extract, salt, rosemary extract, mixed tocopherols (vitamin E).
Less sweetness. Balanced macronutrients. Plant protein and healthy fats. Ingredients traditionally appreciated in wellness cultures. No excessive sugar. No artificial aftertaste.
Just thoughtfully selected components designed to complement an active, ambitious lifestyle.
Why "Make-up You Can Eat"
